A program of Shabbat home activities held within walking distance of a synagogue, where people can truly step out of their daily lives and experience a holistic Shabbat: Communal Shabbat dinner, learning and singing Z’mirot, providing sleeping space for those who want to try not driving to shul, perhaps bringing a group to a shul badly in need of an infusion of enthusiastic participation, Eating lunch together and discussion or study groups, and havdalah, all free from the distractions and temptations of one’s own home. This would be especially beneficial for young childless singles who often have to spend Shabbat alone.
